July 11, 2012Cincinnati-based Che International Group, LLC recently announced its acquisition of Akron, OH-based Digital Color Imaging, Inc. Digital Color Imaging is a digital and wide format printing company that provides fully integrated marketing solutions. The company specializes in retail displays, specialty packaging, custom folding cartons, and offset printing and finishing. Digital Color Imaging is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Che International Group (CIG) and will operate under the name of Digital Color International, LLC (DCI).
“I was attracted to DCI because of its advanced technologies, proven track record for excellence and innovation. The company has a tenured and experienced operational team, solid structure and growth potential,” said CIG’s President and CEO Christopher Che. “My objective is to offer a strong value proposition in the packaging and display space that reflect the success we’ve had with presenting similar value proposition to our customers in the label and flexible packaging space through CIG’s other subsidiary company, Hooven-Dayton Corporation.”
The Che International Group acquires companies in diverse industries that serve a common customer base. Customers range from small business to multinational corporations and represent a variety of industries including automotive, health and beauty, cosmetics, medical, household products, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, industrial, and manufacturing.
CIG employs more than 150 people between its two subsidiary companies: Digital Color International and Hooven-Dayton Corporation (HDC). Since acquiring HDC, a label, coupon and flexible packaging printer with plants in Dayton, Ohio and Richmond, Indiana, in 2007, CIG has invested significantly in technology and employed an aggressive growth strategy that has resulted in HDC tripling its revenue over the last four years. A similar strategy is being developed for DCI. The relationship between the two companies will provide fully integrated total print solutions under the Che International Group umbrella and provide a powerful opportunity to advance both companies’ strategic priorities.
The former owners of DCI will remain an integral part of the day-to-day operations and continue in revised leadership roles: David Fusselman, Senior Vice President of Administration and David Welner, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. “DCI’s commitment to remaining a constantly adaptive and innovative business entity have allowed the company to remain at the forefront of the graphic and visual communica- tion revolution for nineteen years,” said Dave Fusselman. “That same spirit and quest for new and innovative business solutions led us to the Che International Group. We were very impressed with CIG’s track record with Hooven-Dayton. We are confident CIG’s vision, expertise, and growth plan will allow DCI to compete on a whole new level and secure our position as an industry leader”
“Our employees’ skill and dedication has enabled us to build a well-positioned, responsive company that has continually evolved to remain on the cutting edge of innovation and technology. Those employees, and our loyal customers, remain at the heart of our success,” said David Welner. “This new leadership will mark the beginning of an exciting new era of DCI’s evolution and our employees and customers will reap the rewards.”
